February 2, another hard week

My new bike

Hi Fam.

So this week was one of the hardest weeks I have had in the mission.
A lot of walking and a lot of people not answering there doors.  It was super hard.  But I know there was reason for all things.

Just a heads up, I don’t have a lot of time. I might be cut short again.  But I’m doing still fantastic.  I still love studying.  I have learned a lot lately.  I am staying firm with all the reading.  I hope you guys are as well.
Love this guy

A miracle that happened this week was after super long nights, super long days praying... for a less active family that has a little girl that is ready to get baptized, they finally let us in to talk to them.  First, we just showed our love and our gratitude for letting us in.  Then we just shared some spiritual experiences with them.  Then, they asked us if we would start passing by more because they are doing super bad spiritually.  We jumped for joy because of course we want to help.  So now we have set up some family nights to do with them for the week.  So we are pretty excited for that.

This week, we got evacuated from the pension because there is a huge fire in Lago Puelo that is taking over the whole city.  So we are living in El Boslon.  And we have been praying hard for rain.  This fire has been going on for a solid 5 days now.  And nothing can stop it.  But now, as we have been praying for a miracle, as I am speaking to you right now, it is raining.  It is a miracle.  Please pray for the people in Lago Puelo.  The houses and the places so people can be safe.  Pray for more rain.  Its super crazy and super sad at the same time.  Never thought some city would mean so much to me.
Elder Bastile and me

Other than that we had a conference with the president this week.  It was great and very spiritual.  But honestly one of the most boring things I have ever been to in my life.  Usually they are super fun, but it was sooooo boring.  But I did learn a lot of new things.  Especially that I need to use the Preach my gospel more.  Things are looking up.  I’m super happy for the mission.  I am super happy with the work.  I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I love you guys so much.  I still have a super strong testimony.  THANK YOU PRES: Quesenberry.  HE is always sending me dear elders.   Super inspiring also.

Thank you for your support!

January 26 another day in Paradise.

Our Christmas ties

Hello family,

So this week... it has been a super weird one.  One that I have never had in the mission. Just a lot of trials and good things happened.  Like a friggen roller-coaster.  Its kind of nuts, but its kind of good.  I have learned a lot of myself, and been able to help a lot of people as well.  I’m super grateful.

This week, I really started out trying to consecrate myself.  Really trying to make myself worthy to call on the power of God from the heavens.  So first I want to tell you guys about a lied I made when I was in high school.  I was drifting in the white truck and I totally blew out the tire when I hit the curb... and I told dad the cold air made it flat because it was the dead of the winter.... I was telling that story to my companion and realized I never repented for lying like that..... soooo... sorry dad.  I lied to you about that.  I blew out the tire that one day. I think I paid for it anyway... so we are good! ;) hahahahaha
Zone conference

But this week, I have seen so much of a difference in my spirituality.  I have felt the spirit all day, walking and talking; my language is clearing up and really feels like I can walk with the angels to have that blessing to call upon the heavens.  I am starting to take each week more and more serious! And it is awesome.

Mom asked me if I had problems,  I kind of did, my health hasn’t been the best so I have had to push through that, and really try to follow the will of God.  Things are looking up and I am good as gold.

First, my comp is going through some hard personal problems, and its super hard for him to keep his excitement, but we are working through it together. Please pray for him.  Elder West!
Elder West

Lucas didn’t come to church... I was super bummed about that.  But we taught him really well this week; I just don’t know what else to do. He has all the lessons, everything done; we are just waiting on him to marry. It’s super hard that people have their own agency.  Why can’t they just listen to us.... ugh. Anahi, returned from Buenos Aires, but didn’t come to church either... she is super lost. Super alone, and has depression because of all her friends dropped her because she was  baptized... so please pray for her.  We have two other girls with baptism dates.  Paula and NIlda, please pray for them that they can listen and open their ears.  Paula is super special and wants to get to the celestial kingdom.  So we have super big hope in her!  Please pray for all of them.  Sorry it’s a lot but please do so.

I want you guys to know, that even though things are a little rough, I am still super happy.  I can honestly say I am loving the mission and taking the challenges well.  I am learning as I go so I can become the greatest missionary I can be on the last day.  GET BETTER EVERY DAY:  I am super blessed with the love of the Lord.  He carries me through these hard times and I’m super grateful.  Thank you for your support and your care.  BUT I AM SOOOO GREAT!!!

Love you guys more than you know!

Sauce from Mom
Wazzzzzuppppp family?
Behold, I say unto you, that I am super good down here in the mission.  Haha i am found myself starting to talk like the book of Mormon because I am like a book worm right now.  I am actually learned a lot right now.  I am currently in 2 n. 12 and just getting into the Isaiah/Nephi.  Man, if you think it is hard in English... wow, I don’t understand things.... ahah but it is super great.  I am learning a lot, and also gain a big trust in God and what he has his servers do.  I am understanding my purpose as a missionary and how important my role is right now.  I am super excited!!!
So this week we have been consecrating on Lucas, kind of like always... haha but we brought up tithing and that is always a hard topic to bring up.  But he accepted well and promised to keep the law of tithing and fasting when he becomes a member of the church of Jesus Christ.  I am super impressed with the testimony he already has.  I am super grateful for the prayers and for the love you guys send through your prayers.  Please keep praying.
This week in my ministry was a little bit normal.  We followed passing out the cards found some good new people.  We have a lot of return dates, but we haven’t really been teaching a lot.  It is a little hard.  The feet are getting tired, yawl know what I mean.  But still we are following the rules and being obedient, I know God has someone out there that he is just preparing and we just need to find him.  Comes with constant pray and fasting.
We had a tsunami in my area this week, well yesterday.  WE ended up with 4 new investigators, and one of them accepted a baptism date.  We are super excited.  We will keep up with them this week and that will be the focus for the week that comes.
This week I want to talk about how important our testimonies are to the world.  Just being a member of the church is not good enough.  We grow testimonies to share them.  It is like growing a huge apple tree and not partaking of the wonderful tasty fruit.  Share and partake of the sprit that it gives.  Bruce R. Mckonkie said, there are two important truths that we need as members of the church.  If we have those things we will prosper.  Those things are a Testimony of Joseph Smith, and of course that Jesus is the Christ.   With this reading the book of Mormon, I encourage you guys to continue praying for a strengthening of your testimonies.   So you all can stand as a witness that Jesus Christ Restored His church Through Joseph Smith.
I love all you guys with all my heart.  I love the mission.
See you all next week.

 A members old police uniform

The work is hasting of God and His kingdom.  We have very little time left. Maybe 100 more years, who knows? But we can see that Jesus Christ and God are preparing the world for the second coming.
As a missionary it is actually very cool to see.  I am super excited to be apart of Gods work in these times.  I feel like such an important person and tool in Gods hands.  With this hastening, I have started to take my mission more seriously.  I have found out that people really need me.  This isn’t a time to enjoy the fresh Argentina air, its time to hasten gods work and help prepare people to meet Our Father.
The church has come out with some other new pass a long cards for missionaries to help them find new people.  They are called Inspired Questions.  I am actually super excited about them and have already seen miracles.  We have actually seen some pretty immense changes in the missions across the world.  As of right now, there is more of a focus on just baptisms.  We can see that things are getting pretty deep.  I can’t really explain to much because it wont really make sense to you guys. Because it has to do with how we do work. But things have changed so much and really its super cool to be apart of.
We have been contacting a lot this week, and finding new people.   We are still working on Lucas; he Came to church again with his family.  Things are super good with him.  Just waiting on all the legal things of the marriage.  But he is working hard.  Please continue to pray that he will hurry his papers.  I would love to see him enter the water before I leave Lago Puelo.  I only have a month left.  With the cards that they gave us, we have been making up new ideas of contacting.  Instead of just the same old boring stuff, we have been using these questions to catch the attention of the people.  100 percent of the people that have walked outside of their house and talked to us has accepted this card and continued to think about this question.  Not 100 percent has continues to accept us in their houses.  We have met 3 really cool people that are super ready.

One lady named Maria, we contacted but she was super occupied so we didn’t get to talk to her much, but we are going back to her house to paint and do a little service!!

Next a guy named Leo, but he lives in Buenos Aires so we don’t get to teach him but we gave him a restoration pamphlet and he pretty much told us he wants to get baptized. HE live 5 minutes away form the temple in Argentina!! SOO cool.

Next, is a guy named Ariel.  He is super cool, and he let us in his house when we asked him the question.  HE gave us like this banana flavored milk and was super good. The best ever.  But, we entered and it was kind of too friendly, and we talked too much like homies, but then we buckled our shoes and got to work.  We started talking about the church.  We then taught the restauration.  He accepted that good and we now have a date to come back and teach him again.  Please pray for him.

We have been working on a mission to consecrate ourselves.  I hope that word makes sense in English.  I don’t recognize it.  But, we are supposed to sanctify ourselves.  We had this talk by Bishop Gerald Causse.  He gave a talk to the mission presidents in 2014.  How the missionaries should be consecrated.  So now, what it takes, is absolutely become unselfish, and forgetting about myself.  Submitting myself to god so I can receive his power, and hasten HIS work.  I have been trying my best this week and I have seen changes already.  I ask you guys to please pray for me and I am going through this.  I really do want to change so I can call the power down from the heavens when I need them.

We are also trying to read the Book of Mormon by the next general conference.  Our mission is doing this. I want to extend that invitation to you guys.  You need read 6.5 pages a day before conference to finish it.  I exhort you all to try it.  You will be blessed.

Thank you all for your support.  I do love the mission. I Love feeling like I am helping God do his work.  Please help the missionaries in our stake.  They need it!! PLLEASE HELP THEM!

Love you guys""

Happy New Year
So things are great down here in the mission I am in.... I can honestly say I am working my hardest.  So this week was not a regular week in the missionary field..  First of all it was p day and we had a good day.  Then Tuesday came about, and my companion got his big toe nail taken right off his poor little foot.  Turns out you are not suppose to walk on the foot for 3 days.  So we got wiped out of work for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  But we still managed to get him hobbled around to some parties with the members that they prepared for us for New Years Eve and Day.

New Year’s parties we just went and had a big barbeque at a member’s house and just had a good time really.  The members love us here.  Haha we were always chanting in the ultimo hours of the night, Last Sausage of the year... AYYYYYEEEEE haha it was super funny and we did that for everything.

Then passed by the parties, and we went back to work.  We found some new investigators like 6 miles away... walking. So it is far.  Haha and we started teaching them.  They are super nice and super receptive to us.  We have only taught them one time as of right now, but we will have stories of them this week.  PROMISE:  they are named Valeria and Miguel.  Pray for them.

Then, we had a good Saturday, with mostly just inviting members to come to church. We only have like 25 that assist from Lago Puelo, so we spent a lot of time finding the members that needed to go and inviting them.  It turned out good and we had a good turnout in church.  28 members from Lago Puelo and ALSO Lucas Came with all his family.  So we are super happy about that.

We actually had a good Sunday.  The members that we didn’t get to visit and the member’s that didn’t come to church we went and visit and told them how it is.  ahah not, we showed some love and the importance of coming to church.   We as a mission are sharing a lot of the parable of the 99 sheep and the one lost one.  It is actually really cool how the members connect with that story.  I really like using the parables Jesus used in the bible to teach.  It is one thing I have been working on.

My companion in the hospital
Also, yesterday... as i was writing you guys... about 20 minutes into my time, I see out of the corner of my eye, my companions head fly back, eyes wide open, and then start make this snoring noise.... He fainted.  He has a bad disease or something, that if he has pain in his stomach, his body can’t take it, and just shuts down.  So I was like, WHATTT?? All the people just gathered round. Only I spoke to him, then the guy that runs the cyber, (where we were at) called an ambulance and they came and got him.  It was super crazy.  We ended up staying the whole day in the hospital; and stayed the night as well.  We found a miracle in the hospital.  We found this old 70 year old guy named segundo that is a member but has not gone because he lives in the hospital because he is super sick.  We talked to him, but doesn’t hear very well and doesn’t understand, but said yes to come to church.  So all in all things are good here.  Just a little crack up to meet this old guy!!! haha

I’m happy, My mission is great!! I love you guys! Thanks for the support!! NOS VEMOS.

Chapter 29: Happy New Year!!!

Over looking my area
 FAMILY;

Holy cow, time flies, I feel like I just saw you guys... OH wait.......... hahah funny.
So we had a couple of people in church this week. Lucia and Guadalupe.  Guadalupe had a baptism date for this week but she lacks one attendance to the church.  haha Lucia is her little sister who we had no idea about but has been coming to church.  So Lucia, she will get baptized in the next week.   But we also my hold off on it, and wait till her sister can do it with her.  They are 11 are 12 years old.  It’s super cool how god just helped us out in that way.  I know it comes from super obedience and comes from really having the desires to do God’s will.

Our Christmas Day hike
Well family, I feel like I already told you guys everything.  We hiked a mountain, 16 miles, and then just chilled and played a white elephant.  My gift kind of sucked.  A jump rope and some used deodorant.  haha mom, you always gave better gifts than that... cough cough, I mean Santa.

Either way, I want you guys to know, I’m super happy, and I’m super embarrassed about crying about an investigator in front of you guys.  haha it really shows that I’m not a huge buff guy out on the mission.  I still am normal Clay.  ahah except I have a bigger testimony..
(fromKacey...during the phone call his sister asked him his best moment and his worst moment.  Clay took a few minutes then responded with him baptizing a mother  and her commitment to the gospel.  Then he responded with the worst and he said that same mother had started to smoke again.  it was at that time clay broke down. he loves these people so much. For his Mom and Dad and family emotional as well  )
Christmas Skype
I’m super happy to hear the progressino of our family and the willingness of everyone going to the temple especially on this special week of Matt’s endowment.  I want you guys to seriously take this seriously.  Really think in why are you doing this? For what reasons.  We will always remember that it is because god has blessed us so much to give us such a merciful plan of salvation.  Thank you guys for being worthy to do this for your brother and son.

Overlooking my area

Next, Lucas, he is progressing.  We have the date for his marriage, and then right after he gets hitched, we are throwing him down under that water.  IM super excited and so is he.  He has a big testimony and realizes the importance of making this covenant with god.  He understands the importance.  For that, he has a little bit of fear and doesn’t want to fail.  Please pray for him to have the strength and faith to continue on.  He is super special person, and will be a great branch president some day.

Thank you all for the support.  Dad, I’m sorry, my emails suck lately.  I’m really trying to be better.  But really this week, it was hard to have a lot of miracles.  Right now, we will focus more so that I can have better emails.  Haha I miss you guys and I’m super happy you are all doing so well.

Love Elder Wessel

This is the bosque Tallado.  We climbed the mountain to see it. This burnt down trees got turned into carvings by some cool guys.  We will check more out later.

Chapter 28 Christmas is here "Feliz Navidad"

My Christmas sweater

Hola family,

So let’s start off with a sorry for not really writing last week.  We got too caught up in p day and played too much and we ended up not really writing.  But, things turned out alright.  NO one got hurt and I’m great!!

so this week was just a week of learning lessons for me.  Learning that life is not easy and especially when you are on the mission.  With all the things that happen in the mission then you throw some good ole personal stuff on that and you got for a good week.  "Sarcasms” I feel like me and my companion is getting a long pretty well and maybe too well.  So I feel like we just weren’t that focused this week.  Especially with this duty we have of passing out the cards that we are supposing to.  We were really lazy and underachievers this week.  I have spent a lot of time on my knees this week, and don’t really want to have this week again.

I always remember a story that happened to me in the temple.  I remember when we were talkin to the president of the temple before the good stuff happened.  He asked a question that really stuck with me.  When satan starts throwing darts fast, hard and a lot of them, and your life starts to get really hard, what are you going to do in that moment.  Especially on your mission.

i thought to myself for a couple seconds, and i replied, but not with an answer that a 18 year old kid would say.  Most definitely not the answer he was expecting.  I responded “Work Harder."  This saying has stayed in my head ever since April 3, 2014.  Sitting in that room with my dad and another kid that i had never met in my life.

Family, i want you to know, that i am working my hardest.  I remember the words i said.  I feel like it was a little promise I made to myself.  I work harder every day.  I promise I am trying to be the best missionary i can be.  I love the work.  Sometimes it gets hard.  But, that’s when we need to work harder.

God helped us to get the son of Anahi to church.  But he did not like it.  so it was hard after.  Please pray for him so he will have the desires to go back to church.  His name is Alex.  he is 13 years old.
Christmas packages came

I want to exhort you all to find something you can do for the savior this week.  Something you can do to make him smile.  Something to really show the Christmas spirit.  I love you guys. I love all your support and im super excited to see all of you guys this week for a good Christmas call on eskype.  Like they say in Argentina.

I love you guys, love the mission more, and I love the lord even more.  Thanks for all the love you guys give me.  Please keep supporting me.  I need it!!!!

Chapter 26: Slipped and Tripped

Its spring and these are fresh, I'm eating good!

What’s up family??

So, not much happened this week here in Lago Puelo just a lot of finding new people and helping them make commitments.  We found 4 new people this week and set 2 new dates for baptism.  They are really cool and super excited.  Please remember the investigators in your prayers.

This week I want to talk about the thing we are concentrating on as missionaries.  It’s called he is the gift.  We are going around and using this card and video to help people listen to us as missionaries and start taking the lessons.  All the missionaries in the world are caring out this work for the lord during this month of Christmas.  I exhort you as my family and friends to find this video.  HE IS THE GIFT, and share with all your friend s in the social media and ask people you know if they would like to start to take lessons from the missionaries.  It’s remarkable with the miracles I have seen as we have used these cards.  I know the prophets are inspired with this. Please use it and help build up the kingdom of god with us the full time missionaries.

Missionary and his family going home

Lucas, is not married, we had to push back his date of baptism so we could get him married first.  He is super excited though.  Please pray for him so he can get those desires to start getting married.   His prayers and super great and he is reading.  HE is AWESOME:

Love this guy

My comp is from Evanston Wyoming.  He is a super great guy, and is super funny.  We honestly laugh to much.  We try and make ourselves talk in Spanish because we aren’t as funny in Spanish.  haha but somehow we always end up laughing.  He actually cracked his head open and had to get stitches.  We were playing soccer in Esquel with the zone and he fell back and hit his head!!! ahah but he is good and we are still working hard.  I will hit you guys up with some great miracles next week!!!

I love you guys more that a fat kid loves cake.  OR more than my dad and mom love coke!!!

Love you Mom

Chapter 25, wow Milagros again

Elder Ogden I'm going to miss him

Wow family, what a great week.  Kind of sad, but good.

This week was transfers and my good homie (companion) Elder Ogden left good ole Lago Puelo.  He went up more north by Neuquen.  It was a good thing to have him and I’m super excited for his future.  I sure learned a lot from him.  I hope things are good where he is going.

Sooooo, Anahi and Aylin, made their promise with the Lord this week and got baptized.  IT was so special and I can’t believe I was able to help them.  I am so blessed from the Lord.  I learned so much and love them so much.  The baptism was a little crazy.  Aylin wanted to get baptized without anybody watching her.  She is super shy.  You can see in the photo that she has an angry face.  But, she was super happy.  We had to invite the people to leave the room and go back to the sacrament room and then we did the baptism.  Haha it was crazy but it worked out and the spirit was super strong.  I did the ordinance for Anahi.  I had a picture of us in the white clothes but somehow it got deleted... I don’t know how.  SUPER SORRY:
Anahi and Aylyn

Lucas Bermudez and his family are now our main focus.  HE is super excited for his baptism date on the 20 of December.  He told elder Ogden before he left that he will continue to go to church and be firm. He just needs to start attending the reunions.  Please pray for him to get to the chapel and partake of the sacrament.

Zone Confrence
This week we had a zone capacitation for Christmas.  We are starting this new way of finding people and new investigators this month through a video the church made called “He is the gift.  On December 7 the church will take over YOUTUBE: We are super excited as a mission and as a world.  Each mission in the world had this zone conference and will start using this way of finding. TODAY:  We are suppose to hand out 10 of these hand out cards a day and record names and then send them into Salt Lake.  This is big.  They really have faith that this will bring so many more people unto Christ.  As of two days ago. I have witnessed that as to be true.  God works miracles if we listen to his inspired profetas.  The prophets are inspired and receive revelatino.  I know it’s true.

Dayan and Elder Ogden
I’m so excited to tell you guys that my testimony is growing stronger each and every day.  I want you to know that I understand the power that I have.  I understand my duty as a missionary. I understand the people that I am suppose to help.  I do believe that nothing will change this site that I have.  Nothing will change my purpose as a missionary.  I am GODS servant in this time.  I will never be in this stage of my life again.  I am living it up and doing the best I possibly can.

I know this church is true.  I love my savior and I know he knows my afflictions.  I know he is here to love me and guide me.

Thank you for your support.

Love you guys,

Elder Wessel

Chapter 24: How God Answers‏

Elder Moya and  Hermana Phipps
 Hola Family,

Well I got good news for any of you who were doubting.  God answers prayers.  Especially every single one of you guys who are praying for me and my investigators.  GOD ANSWERS PRAYERS.

I want to talk about how much God loves us.  And what he has done to show his love.  During this week and the week past I have been pondering much on how much God loves me.  I was kind of doubting the love and power he has given me.  I haven’t seen too much success with investigators this mission.  But I have seen a whole lot of different people come to Christ or find their way back.  I have been praying hard for strength in my testimony.  So I can be the best missionary I can be.  I want to be able to speak and teach with the power and authority that is talked about in Doctrine and Covenants.  I have been praying hard, combined with the humble, loving prayers from the family and friends, and in Gods timing, he blessed me with one of the most incredible experiences I have ever been a part of in my entire life.  This experience means so much to me and I will hold it close to me for a very long time.
We did a little hike today and went to the River Blanco. It was a legit.

I want to talk about Anahi and her daughter Aylin.  They are some of our more firm investigators that we have.  Anahi is the mom and she has had a problem smoking.  But, we made a plan that we would pass by for 5 minutes every day to share a scripture or even just have a little prayer so that the spirit could be felt that day.  We had a lesson this week with her.  She has had doubts that God doesn’t listen to her because she is a big sinner.  I made a promise to her earlier on when we met her that was stated if she prayed in the name of Jesus Christ her prayer would be answered.  She had been praying but not in the name of Jesus Christ.  So, during the lessons when she was explaining her doubts, I stopped her and asked if she would pray right there on the spot to receive her answer.  She accepted.  Simply asked if God listens to her.  We sat in silence for a long one minute after.  My companion then asked... [How do you feel]?  She then thought to herself and started to cry without words.  She lost every word she wanted to say.  She muttered out, I have never cried without a purpose in my life.  But right now, I cannot explain why I am crying.  Her phone then rang, we did not hear what was said on the other line, but we heard her say that no the religion is not like that.  Then, she sat herself down across from us.  Look at my companion right in the eyes, and said, "I am convinced. This is true."

This was the most powerful lesson I have ever had.  I will never forget this experience.  It helped me realize the power and authority we have as missionaries and the mercy and tenderness of God to help his missionaries bring souls unto him.  God loves us.  He loves every one of us.  He is incredible and omnipotent.

we had a zone capacitation in Esquel.  We had a party of 10 missionaries.
Then we were so blessed to have the permission to travel to Bariloche and participate in a devotional given by the Buenos Aires Temple president.  President Fernandez.  He was so inspired and very special.  Only people who were endowed were able to go.  He talked about the power the garments and being endowed gives us.  Only if we keep our covenants.  He talked about how important the temple is in our lives.  And being so far away from a temple how we can sanctify our own day and lives to live like we are in the temple.  Although we are not all the way there and cannot receive the blessings exactly as going to the temple, we are able to receive the testifying spirit of God as we think and ponder in those things.  It is one of the biggest and most special blessings our loving heavenly father has given us.

He also talked about how we can understand the plan of salvation more each and every time we assist the temple.  He shared a story of when Elder Bednar came to the temple.  He said that he was with him in one of the rooms and Elder Bednar look at him and said, "President, do you completely understand the Plan of Salvation?"  Without waiting for an answer he calmly asked, "would you like to?" and then answered his own question and said, "Me too."  Then he explained to the President of the temple that going to the temple brings us closer to the teachings of God through his spirit.  He promised that as we attend the temple as constantly as we can the mysteries of that plan will be revealed to us.  Knowing that Elder Bednard doesn’t know everything... means we have some things to learn to.  I know I am far far far away from the temple but I encourage each and every one of you that read this, to go to the temple.  It is a very wonderful blessing that we should all take advantage of.

our hike today
I am very blessed to have such great support from family and friends.  I love each and every one of you that are praying for me and my investigators.  Please continue to do so.  I am seeing miracles that are so wonderful.  I’m so grateful.

THANK YOU!!!!

Love yous!!!!
